Big Heart Art’s mission is to facilitate art experiences for underserved communities by using art making as a means for expanding the creative, emotional, and mental well-being of both constituents and their communities.
Decades of research show that art is a proven and powerful tool for healing and growth, and art creation is an important catalyst for healthy community connections. People facing challenges such as extreme poverty, domestic abuse, and homelessness deserve opportunities to experience and create art. These artistic opportunities and experiences are proven to help alleviate suffering and to inspire individuals and communities facing these challenges to create new realities.
At Big Heart Art, we believe that art making is a human right and contributes to making us whole.
In an overarching effort to bring art making opportunities to oppressed and/or marginalized groups of people, Big Heart Art proudly serves BIPOC communities, the LGBTQ+ community, immigrant groups, neurodiverse groups, elderly people, veterans, and people with mental and/or physical disabilities.
Big Heart Art facilitates art classes and provides art supplies for children, families, and women in homeless shelters. We also create colorful murals focused on beautifying common spaces in both family and women's emergency shelters.
As we grow, we will need your help to expand our community reach!
We seek art teachers and volunteers who can help us bring art to the people who need it the most.
Please help us raise money to provide art classes and art materials to unhoused women and youth participating in our classes. When you donate to support this work, every donation makes a difference.
